The win of Written Tycoon mare Cheloon in the Spry Civil Construction Handicap at Murray Bridge on Saturday capped off a great week for Rogers Bloodstock. It began last Saturday with the win of the three-year-old Rubick filly Bound For Home in the Group 3 Quzette Stakes at Caulfield. A $50,000 purchase in conjunction with trainer Archie Alexander from the 2021 Melbourne Premier Sale, she has now had three starts for two wins and a second at Flemington. She is now likely to be headed towards the $200,000 Group 3 Scarborough Stakes at Moonee Valley on Grand Final Eve. On Thursday at Echuca, it was very pleasing to see Anahita win on debut for Roll The Dice Racing and Mornington trainer Matt Laurie. A big supporter of Rogers Bloodstock, Roll The Dice went to $160,000 for the three-year-old daughter of Shalaa at the 2021 Magic Millions Sale from the draft of Bowness Stud. Jeremy Rogers of Rogers Bloodstock loved her at the sale and referred to her as ‘a Princess’.
Cheloon comes from the 2020 Magic Millions Sale and like Bound For Home was purchased in conjunction with Archie Alexander, who trains the four-year-old mare. Purchased for only $70,000 due to some Xray issues, she is from a General Nediym half sister to multiple Group 1 winner Humidor. Saturday’s win was a great result for her connections, many of them friends of Jeremy, as it now makes her a City winner after only six starts and she has nearly recouped her purchase price.
